Norfolk Botanical Garden Eagles

The male was out in the old nest tree when I got there around 12:30. He sat for a while then took off so I was going to also until Holly spotted him flying into the nest. THEN around 2:00 a totally different eagle came in & there was a lot of wings & vocalizing going on.

And here's what the intruder looks like - notice the "notch" is in same wing as the male's but further out. The pic right after this one with talons down is also same eagle.

I've been watching the nests, mostly lurking here and loving the photos since 2009. I don't remember ever a time when there were more than just a couple juvi's or other adults in the area. Does anyone else?

It seems this season the garden is abundant with eagles. Does anyone have any idea why the influx of so many eagles? Maybe they're learning to tweet and decided to hang out here?

thanks for posting the vids, Shelly! Holly called to tell me about all the excitement and she commented several times about the sound the eagles were making during the intrusion...wow. Neat time to be there...bad weather and all.
